The First Years: Bottom Care - Diaper Rash Relief System {Review & Giveaway}

We have been blessed in the fact that Princess P very seldom gets diaper rash. The redness and discomfort usually only appears when she is teething or sick. So when I was approached to review a new diaper rash product from The First Years I didn't know if we would have the chance to accurately review it. But as fate would have it she began cutting her last four teeth (all at the same time!) shortly after the Diaper Rash Relief System arrived.

A day or two after I noticed Princess P's new teeth she developed a really bad diaper rash. The kind where she screamed when I would change her diaper. When the recommended time was up I placed the gel pad into a treatment sleeve and changed P's diaper, making sure her bottom was free of creams. I then placed the gel pad into her diaper with the white, treated side of the sleeve against her skin.
Princess P just looked at me after I placed the gel pad into her diaper. It wasn't a look of pain or discomfort, it was more like "What is this thing in my diaper?". After a few moments of sitting quietly on the couch she got up to play touching the bottom of her diaper (where the gel pad was) every few minutes. After 20 minutes had elapsed, I changed her and removed the gel pad. I was glad to see that the irritation and redness wasn't as bad and the gel pad seemed to ease her discomfort. I then placed a small amount of the included Soothing Diaper Rash Cream on her skin. I found the the Diaper Rash Relief System from The First Years soothed Princess P's irritation and provided relief from her discomfort. This product is great to have on hand for whenever diaper rash appears.

The ease-of-use and cleanup from the Diaper Rash Relief System is great. After the gel pad has been removed, simply discard the sleeve and return the gel pad to the refrigerator. If needed, the gel pad may be washed with mild soap and water.
