Dr. Bloom's Chewable Jewels {Review & Giveaway}

Since C and I were first time parents we were not prepared for the adventure teething would take us on. The drooling, the constant chewing and the crying! When Princess P first started teething she would chew on anything she could get her hands on. And when she sat on my lap the first thing she headed for was my necklace. Not so great for my necklace or her gums and new teeth! I only wish that I had known then about the ingenious products offered at Dr. Bloom's Chewable Jewels!

Dr. Bloom Inc. was found by sisters Helen Bloom Smith DMD and Joy Bloom Wright along with friend Mary Wheeler Settlemier in 2003. Their very first product to hit the market was actually conceptualized in December 2003 while Dr. Bloom, who was a senior in dental school at the time, was on the floor playing with her twin nephews. As they played, she noticed that they were drooling and teething on her jewelry. As a soon to be dentist, Dr. Bloom informed her sister that chewing on glass beads and metal may be dangerous to developing tooth buds. After her sister informed her "that is why new moms don't wear jewelry, because babies chew on anything they can get their hands and mouth on", the search was on to find a material suitable for a teething baby.
After searches from baby stores, toy stores and the internet came up empty, Dr. Bloom continued to research the concept of jewelry that was designed for moms but still safe for babies and toddlers. Then, as a mother of a two month old son, she designed and prototyped the first bracelet as a gift for her sister. While attending a wedding in July of 2004, she offered the bracelets to her son and two nephews who loved them! She knew this would be a product that she would love to have as well as her family, friends and other new moms.

Although Princess P is a little older and a bit more experienced in the teeth-cutting department now, she still has a way to go. I often catch her chewing on things she shouldn't be and when I take them away a tantrum usually ensues.
