I knew it was time for a new vacuum when my Black-Friday special would not pick the pine needles up off of the floor after Christmas. That is the last time I purchase a household item because of its pretty color. So off I went to find the best of the best. The cream of the crop. The king of all vacuum cleaners. It was no surprise when my search landed me at the Dyson website. I moved my chair closer to the monitor as I scrolled down the page viewing all of the different models. I had only heard tales of how wonderful Dyson's were. How they never lost suction and were all around just plain fun to use. The closest I thought I would get to a Dyson was the one on display at Wal Mart. Never did I think I would have one setting in my living room begging to be turned-on.As I went to plug in the DC23 I noticed the cord was missing. Assuming that I put something together wrong, I browsed around the canister only to find the cord hidden inside. It was at that moment that I fell in love. When I powered up the vacuum my ears were delighted. They heard a low, dull sound unlike the high-pitched screech of the Black-Friday special. I pushed the Turbinehead brush around the floor, making sure to try and get into every corner and crevice. When I had covered the entire floor I was shocked at the amount of dirt, dust, hair, and Goldfish Crackers in the clear bin. I pushed the release button and was impressed at how effortlessly the bin came out. It was also easy and quick to empty, minimizing the risk of contact with dirt.
Features That I Love:
- Level 3 Root Cyclone Technology - Terrific for capturing microscopic dirt and getting a deep down clean.
- Clear Bin - Is it sad to say that I get excited when I see the amount of dirt that a vacuum picks up? Well, either way, this gives me a clear view.
- On Board Tool Storage - Keeps the brush, crevice and stair tools neat and organized and ready when you need them.
- Cord Retractor - Need I say more.
- Variable Height Settings on the Wand - This makes using the DC23 comfortable for both me and C. Simply push the button to adjust the handle height.
- Suction Release Trigger - It never fails. I always get the curtains and rugs stuck in the vacuum. This nifty feature is used to break contact with curtains, upholstery or rugs!
- Sits on Stairs While You Clean - This makes vacuuming stairs 100 times easier.
- Tough, Durable Construction - Again, need I say more.
- While the Turbinehead Brush Bar Wand it an excellent feature, it does not stand alone when in use. However, you are able to dock it for storage.
- The extension hose easily connects to the bottom of the canister for better maneuverability while vacuuming, but it can still be tricky moving it around.
- The Operating Manual is very vague. I still cannot figure out how to wrap the extension hose around the canister and make it stay.
Overall, I think the Dyson DC23 Turbinehead is a great investment. You get a canister vacuum with a futuristic look and wonderful features. The initial purchase price is a little on the high side ($399.99) but you are getting a vacuum that will not loose suction and will be around for years to come. The DC23 has definitely left my floors a lot cleaner than what they were with the Black-Friday special.A big thank you to Dyson for this review opportunity.
This review is based strictly my opinion. Others may have a different opinion or experience with the product listed above. Dyson provided the DC23 Turbinehead and I provided my honest opinion. No other type compensation was received for this review.

Isn't it funny what makes us so happy?! I wish a Dyson would drop into my lap magically! I have the most obnoxiously loud vacuum in the world and it is horrible on wood floors. Congratulations on your awesome vacuum! :)
It's such a stylish little vacuum, I really like it. Also, I love the fact you can roll it into a small closet corner with no problems.
