Bella Tunno {Designer Diner} Review & Giveaway

Eating out has become a rarity for us these days. Not only because of the economy (new job = less money) but also because we have a squirmy toddler who refuses to sit still. Sometimes, though, we get lucky and the paycheck gods swing us some extra money (in the form of holiday pay) and we get to relish in all of the deliciousness that is Applebee's. But usually as the story goes, 5 minutes into dinner and I'm fishing the coloring page out from under the table, C is trying to capture all of the escaped crayons and Princess P is doing some Houdini move out of her highchair. There has to be something that will keep her occupied and satisfied! --> This is where Bella Tunno comes to the rescue.<-- I first fell in love with Bella Tunno when I was shamelessly"window shopping" at babyGap. The bold colors and modern prints delighted my eyes while the design and function made me want to snatch up every product I saw. Just imagine my reaction when I found out Bella Tunno had a website with a copious amount of new products and prints to feast my eyes upon.
While browsing through the Bella Tunno website I came upon a brilliant little product called the Designer Diner. This handy little mat does double duty with a wipe-clean placemat on one side and a reusable chalk mat on the other. The Designer Diner also includes a 12 piece box of (non-toxic) chalk hidden in a coordinating pouch that easily detaches. And mamas, don't worry about it taking up your whole diaper bag. Simply roll the Designer Diner up and tie the matching ribbon to secure.

Hoping that the Designer Diner would keep Princess P occupied throughout dinner, Bella Tunno sent us the Sweet Tooth Designer Diner to review. As soon as I opened the package I fell in love with the fabric and ribbon colors. Each are unique but blend together so nicely. I also love that the rolled-up size of the Designer Diner is a perfect fit for our diaper bag. The chalk mat was a first for Princess P. After sampling the chalk (do not act like your kids don't do it!), she discovered that she could color on the mat and not get scolded for it. Thus led to at least 7 minutes of blissfully uninterrupted adult conversation. When she finally realized what was happening she handed me a piece of chalk to join her. Her doodles soon covered the entire mat so I handed her a napkin and showed her that she could erase it and start over again. When it was finally time to eat I wiped the chalk mat clean and flipped it over. After a few minutes of P wanting to flip the placemat back over to the chalk mat side I finally had to hide the chalk so she would eat. The only problem I ran into, besides P wanting to color and not eat, was that the chalk broke into several different pieces (it brought me back to my elementary school days). So I had to switch out the chalk box for a ziploc bag. But good news, it still fits in the detachable pouch!
