Fairytale Brownies Review & Giveaway

Anything that contains chocolate is considered my best friend. So everyone meet my new BFF, Fairytale Brownies. As one of the sweetest reviews I have ever done, Fairytale Brownies truly left me feeling like I was in a fairytale!

Founded in 1992, Fairytale Brownies was inspired by a treasured family recipe and a commitment to excellence. It all began in a friend's catering kitchen using co-founder David Kravetz's moms 50 year old recipe. Years later David and co-founder Eileen Spitalny oversee the direct-mail business in a facility that bakes over 2.5 million brownies annually. Helping spread the joy is Brownie, a cheerful fairy of Celtic folklore who preforms good deeds.

When I found out I was going to review the Patriotic Dozen from Fairytale Brownies a bit of sadness came over me. It happen to almost mark the date exactly of when my husbands end date with the military was. But with the enchanting goodness of Fairytale Brownies we turned that sadness into celebration. The box arrived packaged perfectly with a reusable ice pack to keep the brownies fresh. I opened the box to find the brownies wrapped in tissue paper with a "Enjoy" sticker to keep it closed. Then, that's when I found the motherload! I found one of each individually wrapped Original, Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Cream Cheese, Espresso Nib, Mint Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Pecan, Raspberry Swirl, Toffee Crunch, Walnut, and White Chocolate flavor brownie. OMG! I was totally in heaven. I immediately open the Raspberry Swirl and devoured each rich, yummy bit in under a minute. In my pure ecstasy I totally forgot to give Princess P or C a bite. So C tore into the Cream Cheese brownie and ate it in record time. These are by far some of the best brownies I have ever had! And that is saying something because I come from a long line of Southern women whose specialty is desserts. Within a matter of days each scrumptious brownie was devoured.

I also love that Fairytale Brownies donates a portion of each sale from the Special Occasion assortments to help support KaBOOM!'s quest to make the world a safer place to play.

One lucky winner will receive the Patriotic Dozen from Fairytale Brownies!

Baby Dipper Bowl Review & Giveaway

*This giveaway is now closed.*
Princess P is getting older and more independent everyday. Which is making me a little crazy, a little sad, and a little excited all at the same time. But with the help of the Baby Dipper Bowl I hope to be a little less frustrated at the end of the day.

As a Stay-At-Home-Mom of two sets of twins, Barbara Schantz, faced the daunting tasks of feeding everyday with bowls that were frustrating to use. The idea for the Baby Dipper Bowl came to Barbara when her twin girls, Cora and Greta, were six-months old and started eating cereal and pureed foods. She envisioned something that wasn't on the market yet, a bowl that allowed you to successfully feed with one hand.

Princess P and I got the chance to review the Baby Dipper Bowl first hand. As soon as I saw it, the shape and design it immediately caught my eye. I had never seen anything like it before and I could not wait to try it! I washed it and filled it full of tator-tot casserole (not the easiest thing to eat, but oh-well). I sat it down in front of Princess P and she reached for the spoon. The shape of the spoon allowed her to actually hold it and get the food to her mouth. (We are still working on getting the food out of the spoon.) She seemed so proud of herself each time she took a bite. She finished the entire bowl! I love the no-slip feature of the Baby Dipper Bowl, it didn't move a time while she was eating. The contoured inside shape guides food to the spoon and it even allows the spoon in the corners to get that last bite. I can't wait to try softer foods like yogurt and applesauce in the Baby Dipper Bowl. This is not only a must have for mom's with babies but also for toddlers learning to self-feed!

One lucky person will win a Baby Dipper Bowl Set!

To Enter: You must visit the Baby Dipper Bowl website and tell me one of your favorite features AND who you would love to win this for. Answer must include both to win. Each answer must be different from the one above.
Please leave an email address. I have to have a way to contact the winner.

Hapari Swimwear Review & Giveaway

*This giveaway is now closed.*
I remember getting so much joy from Bathing Suit shopping. My friends and I would hop into the dressing rooms with our arms full and want every suit we tried on. But then things changed and I became a mom. And then I realized my body would never look the same in that swimwear I use to flaunt so proudly. Now, I walk into the dressing room with one or two suits and stare at them for 5 minutes before I can get the courage to try them on. Then I usually leave the store without even buying one. Thankfully the designers at Hapari Swimwear have changed my mind about flaunting my swimsuits.

At Hapari Swimwear, their mission is to allow every woman to feel confidant and beautiful in swimwear. The company is backed by a couple of designer moms who put their heads together to create swimwear that enhance, decrease and even lift and separate. Because lets face it, very few of us are born with completely perfect bodies.

To gain my confidence back Hapari sent me the "Girls Night Out" Butterfly Tankini and the Tummy Tuk Brown and White Polka Bottoms. I instantly fell in love with the print and design of the Tankini and the Bottoms. So it looks good, but how does it fit? The Tankini top is so neat because it can be worn three different ways, as a halter, criss cross or tank! It is like three different suits in one. But one of my favorite features has to be that the breast pads are sown into the Tankini so no more slipping or sliding around! The design is also a little longer and doesn't seem to ride up as I move around. What about the bottoms? I ordered the bottoms a size down like it says on the Hapari website, but I think I would have been fine with my regular size. I love the Tummy Tuk panel in the bottoms! It not only hides my belly pouch but it hides my "side fat" wonderfully. The only thing is that you can see the seems in the bottoms through the Tankini top. But it is really no big deal. The "Girls Night Out" Butterfly Tankini and Tummy Tuk Brown and White Polka Bottoms has me getting poolside again! If you are looking for stylish, Tankini swimwear, visit Hapari.com!

One lucky person will win a Hapari Swimsuit of their choice!

To Enter: You must visit Hapari and tell me what suit you would choose if you are the lucky winner! Each answer must be different from above.
Please leave an email address. I have to have a way to contact the winner.

But then again...

I just need to vent, so if you aren't in the mood for wining look away!

I hate living in an apartment. It is so dull, so plain and so depressing. Ever since we have moved in I haven't wanted to decorate, cook or clean. I feel like it is not my house and it is just temporary. I miss my house with my paint colors and most importantly, it being mine. It is just so depressing.

But then again

At least I have a roof over my head, food in my cabinets and a bed to sleep on. We may not have much money but at least we can (mostly) pay all of our bills on time.

I hate that I have to go back to work. I hate that my child will be in someone else's care for 8 hours a day. That is not fair, I want to be home with her! I want to make sure she eats what she is supposed to and make sure she gets the attention she deserves.

But then again

At least I have a job. And at least I got to be with her for an entire year.

I hate that the special shopping trip we took for me, the one that we drove over an hour for today, was ruined. By a little one who is (finally) cutting teeth and a husband who *had* to get back to go fishing. They both ended up with something and I left empty handed. (I needed clothes for a very important *meeting* Wednesday, clothes that needed to make an impression.)

But then again

At least we were able to take a trip to go shopping. And at least they got something.

Ugh, I have to get out of this funk I am in. It's not good for anyone.

Dittany Baby Review & Giveaway

*This giveaway is now closed.*
It is almost August! Do you know what that means? College Football! It has been a long awaited almost seven months, but no fear because it is almost here. C and I have our gear ready but since little Miss Princess P grows so fast we have to restock her Gator (and maybe a little Virginia Tech) gear. And to help keep those little legs warm the nice people over at Dittany Baby hooked us up!

Dittany Baby's name happens to come from the flower Dittany of Crete. This flower, that happens to be found on the island of Crete, dates back throughout literature and was used to help alleviate pain especially associated with childbirth.

At Dittany Baby you can find a variety of items including SkidPants, Mei Tai's, Pouch Slings, The Baby Lua, Luxury Tights and Nursing Covers all at very affordable prices.

To get Princess P ready for the upcoming football season Dittany Baby sent the Commemorative BCS Championship Gators Argyle Leg Warmers. Um, can I just say I am in love! These leg warmers are so adorable and capture the Gator spirit in every way. I love the fact that the top is adorned with "Florida" and the Gator head is proudly displayed in the center. The Commemorative BCS Championship Gator Leg Warmers are going to look so cute under P's cheerleading outfit (if we can ever find her one!). The only thing is they are a bit longer than other leg warmers we have. But that is okay, it just means she can wear them longer! Dittany Baby also offers another style of University of Florida Leg Warmers as well as many other colleges, inculding Virginia Tech (go Hokies!).

One lucky person will win a pair of SkidPants from Dittany Baby!

To Enter: You must visit Dittany Baby and tell me what style you would choose if you were the lucky winner. Choose wisely because THIS will be the pair you WIN!
Please leave an email address. I have to have a way to contact the winner.

7. 5 Extra Entries if you blog about this giveaway. Please leave an address where it can be found.

Barbar Italy 3800 Review & Giveaway

*This giveaway is now closed.*
As most of you already know I have long hair. Which like most things has its advantages and disadvantages. I love the look of it but hate having to style it, mostly because of the time it takes to dry it. And my $20 drugstore blow dryer just isn't cutting it anymore. That is why I am so thankful for the Barbar Italy 3800.

In operation since 2000, Barbar is backed by over 20 years in experience from founder Dominic Barbar. Barbar Hair Tools has applied Mr. Barbar's years of technical know-how to produce an elite line of hair care products ideal for stylists. Barbar's variety of hair products brings you the latest cutting edge technology that covers all your hair needs without damaging a single strand.
When the Barbar Italy 3800 arrived at my doorstep I couldn't wait to try it out! I got it out of the box and immediately noticed the great red color and the texture. I also noticed that it was a bit more heavy than my drugstore blow dryer, which I hoped was a good thing. When I went to plug it in I noticed how long the cord was, which has turned out to be a major help! Now I don't have to turn my dryer off and set it down when I need to peak out the bathroom door to check on Princess P. Now came the moment of truth, could I it get my hair dry in less time? I plugged it in and hit the first switch once. An impressive amount of air came at me and I moved the speed setting switch over one more time and I was very impressed. (You can tell that the Barbar Italy 3800 is a professional blow dryer by not only the amount of air it puts out but by the sound it makes too.) It has a switch to adjust the temperature, ionic charger and a cool shot button for extra shine. So, did it dry my hair in less time? You bet! In less than 5 minutes.

Features of the Italy 3800:

  • 11 Foot Cord
  • AC Motor
  • Cool shot release button
  • Multiple heat & speed settings
  • High performance controls
  • 2000 Watts
  • 310° F /154° C
  • Red or Black color

  • Barbar offers much more than just blow dryers. You can find professional Flat Irons, Curling Irons, Scissors and Brushes as well.

One lucky person will win a Barbar Italy 3800 Blow Dryer ($150 ARV)!

To enter: You must visit Barbar and tell me another product you would love to have other than the one review. Each answer must be different from the one above.

Making Life Better - Family Fun Book

In the summer it seems everyone's schedules and routines change. With kids out of school, week long trips to camp and the never ending pool parties moms are still left with their everyday tasks like laundry, dishes, and keeping food on the table. So to help bring some variety to meal-planning Unilever teamed up with the author of the "Kitchen Coach" cookbook series, Jennifer Bushman, to create the ultimate Family Fun Book. The Family Fun Book is filled with delicious recipes and affordable meal ideas.

In an effort to make meal time "family-time" Jennifer Bushman recommends bringing the kids into the kitchen to help with meal preparation and use kid-friendly recipes that add fun and creativity. Like having at-home dinner picnics, in the living room! Simply spread out a blanket in the floor and prepare simple sandwiches or wraps and get the kids involved by letting them pick what goes on them. Another great tip is to use versatile ingredients already in your pantry. The great news is you can download the Family Fun Book for Free at MakingLifeBetter.com!

MakingLifeBetter.com also has many more fun and helpful features. Like the Beauty & Style section, that features an Outdoor Skin Survival Guide, and wonderful Special offers!

I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Unilever/Making Life Better. Mom Central sent me a gift card and a copy of the Family Fun Book to thank me for taking the time to participate.

    Piggy Paint Review & Giveaway

    *This giveaway is now closed.*
When Princess P was tiny I saw all these other babies her age with their toe nails painted. I thought "how cute" but there was no way I was going to put all of those harsh chemicals on her nails just to make her look cute. Thank goodness the inventor of Piggy Paint felt the same way!

Piggy Paint was founded after Melanie Hurley was painting her two girls nails one day. While painting their nails over a foam paint one of her daughters dropped a glob of polish onto the plate. Shortly after that the polish began bubbling and "eating" through the plate. That is when she made the decision that none of the solvent based polish was going on her daughters nails ever again. So she came up with Piggy Paint, made from natural ingredients, odorless, hypoallergenic and biodegradable.

Princess P and I received a bottle of Piggy Paint in the Girls Rule color and the Piggy Paint Nail Polish Remover. As soon as I saw the color of the Piggy Paint I knew it was Princess P and I couldn't wait to try it out. The hard part was trying to figure out how I was going to get it on her nails and not on the carpet and the couch, the list could go on forever. So I set her in her high chair, gave her some crunchies and juice to distract her and started painting. I successfully got three toes painted before she realized what I was doing. I somehow managed to get the rest of her toes painted and used the blow dryer to speed up the drying process (which did take a couple of minutes). I used the Piggy Paint Nail Polish Remover to clean up the mistakes on her feet from where she would rub them together. I put the remover on a cotton ball and simply wiped away the paint. After they dried and the mistakes were taken care of her toenails were simply stunning! Everyone oohed and awwed over her painted piggy's. The paint didn't stay on as long as other nail polish but I would gladly paint her nails every couple of days as long as it was with Piggy Paint.

My readers can take 15% off their purchase at Piggy Paint with the code LIFE15L! Expires August 31, 2009.

One lucky person will win a $20 Gift Code to Piggy Paint!

    Kellogg's Cinnabon Bar Review

I am a huge fan of Cinnabon! But with the closest one an hour and a half away I don't get my fix very often. So when I found out Kellogg's was teaming up with Cinnabon to make a snack bar I could buy at my local grocery store I was in heaven!

Thanks to Mom Central and Kellogg's I was able to try a box of my very own. When they arrived I couldn't wait to try the fresh baked goodness in my own home. I opened it up and instantly fell in love. Each bite of the rich cinnamon flavor left me craving more. I handed a Cinnabon bar to C and he gobbled it down in three bites and then ask for another one. We even popped them in the microwave for 3 seconds for even more gooey goodness.

These are perfect for C to grab when he leaves for work in the morning. The Kellogg's Cinnabon Bars are also a great after dinner snack. The only thing wrong with them is I could seriously sit down and eat the entire box in two days!

    *This giveaway is now closed.*
Princess P is (hopefully) teething and she is not the only one in pain. Everyone knows what teething entails, usually fever, sometimes rash and more than likely diarrhea! So keeping the diaper rash at bay and keeping her clothes clean is proving to be a hard task. Luckily Ecostore USA has come to our rescue.

Ecostore was originally founded in New Zealand over 15 years ago. Their products grew in popularity with there "No Nasty Chemicals" appeal and soon grew out of their location, founders Melanie and Malcolm Rands basement. Ecostore USA understands that buying natural or organic can be expensive. But thankfully they have safely found a way to cut down on expenses by using super-concentrated formulas. Proving that the saying "a little goes a long way" is true.

To help battle the diaper rash Ecostore USA sent us the Baby Nappy Balm Protection. As soon as I read the ingredients I fell in love. Olive and Coconut Oil, Beeswax and the all important Zinc Oxide is the majority of the ingredients you will find in Ecostore USA's Nappy Balm, which of course makes me happy! So I love whats in it, but how well does it work? I opened up the jar that was literally filled to the brim and rubbed a bit on the back of my hand. I loved the fact that has no smell unlike other brands. And the fact that it is non-greasy is great. It left my hand with a soft barrier of protection and I hoped it would do the same on Princess P. After using it on Princess P for a week I am happy to report no redness! I use the Nappy Balm on her during the day, because it is not as thick, and a different cream on her at night. Just so I know it "sticks" better during her marathon sleep session.

Ecostore USA also sent us the Pure Oxygen Whitener to help with that pile of laundry P is making. (Because she is having some serious blow-outs.) I hate the thoughts of using bleach to get clothes white so I knew I would love the "No Nasty Chemical" alternative. The Naturally Active Pure Oxygen Whitener is suitable for most fabrics and is much safer. It also works great combating those stubborn stains. The Pure Oxygen Whitener is super concentrated so you use less than normal. I added a tablespoon to the water before putting our whites in and it seemed to do the trick. I also placed just a pinch one one of Princess P's white shirts, to remove a lasagna stain, and it got it out without a trace. The only thing I wish the Pure Oxygen Whitener had was a pre-measured scoop so I wouldn't have to guesstimate!

Maddison Avenue Soy Candle Review & Giveaway

    *This giveaway is now closed.*
I have a small obsession with candles. My problem is I just look at them and do not burn them. I am slowly getting over that habit with the help of Maddison Avenue Pure Soy Candles.

Maddison Avenue Candle Company uses natural and pure ingredients to create their soy candles. From the 100% natural soy wax to the lead-free wicks you can assure that each Maddison Avenue Soy Candle is non-toxic and earth and animal friendly. Maddison Avenue Candle Company even uses 100% non-diluted, full strength aroma fragrance oils formulated to be used especially in soy candles. Maddison Avenue tests each candle to make sure they have achieved maximum burn time.

I got a luxurious treat when I received the Maddison Avenue 7.5oz Spa Tumbler Soy Candle in the ultimate summer fragrance, Juicy Peach (and trust me it was hard narrowing it down to that fragrance, there are so many to choose from!). As soon as I unwrapped it I noticed how sleek the candle looked and I immediately smelled the wonderful fragrance. Then after further inspection I noticed that there was something stuck in the top of the candle. I thought something accidentally got stuck in there while it was being hand poured. But come to find out it was a soybean intentionally placed atop the candle to show that each candle is made from 100% pure soybean wax. You know how I said that I liked to look at candles and not light them? Well, I couldn't help but light the Juicy Peach candle I received. It put off a wonderful aroma and looked very soothing in the process. I don't even have to worry about my Maddison Avenue candle burning out fast. The 7.5 oz candle will burn for 65 hours! Maddison Avenue Candle Company's foucs is fragrance, style and burn time and I believe they have surpassed each one.

Maddison Avenue's Soy Candles also offer pampering in four different ways! You can use it as a moisturizing hand treatment, cuticle dip, a warm body massage oil or a solid scent fragrance. Just be sure to choose the "Body Safe" fragrance oils and dye free candles.

    All For Nothing...

I have been blogging for around 11 months now. I have done reviews and giveaways on my blog for around 7 months now. And all most of the the PR reps and business owners have followed through on their commitments (at least I think so) with reviews and/or giveaways. All but one. I hosted a giveaway only for a certain company back in March, and I am not going to say the companies name because I am going to be the bigger person for once, but I will say it was around the middle of March. Anyway, I hosted a giveaway for them and I emailed them the winners information. Then I waited, and nothing. A week later I emailed them again just looking for a "I will send this right over to the winner" and again I got nothing. A few weeks go by and so does another email and I still haven't heard anything from the winner or the company. I figure maybe the company has already sent the prize to the winner and all is taken care of. A month goes by and then another and then another. I check my email one day and the winner has patiently waited this long for her prize and she hasn't heard anything from me or the company. I apologize to her and once again I send an email to the company, and nothing. Another not so nice email, and nothing!!!

So basically I promoted this company through a giveaway post, entered it into numerous links and contest sites, and got a winners hopes up, all for nothing. Now I am left with trying to find something to compensate the winner with. Because I take pride in my blog unlike someone else who can't even hold up their end of the deal!

I apologize to all, except for one, of the companies who make reviews and giveaways a pleasurable experience. And I apologize to all of my loyal readers who enter them and keep coming back. To all of you disregard this rant post, I am just a little irritated at all the work I did for a company, for nothing.

    Balloon Time Review & Giveaway

Last month was Princess P's first birthday. The morning of the party was so hectic. I had an additional 50 cupcakes to make, decorate for the entire party, wrap presents, get the hamburgers and hot dogs, and get 20 balloons inflated. Needless to say it seemed like the most time consuming of all of those was getting the balloons inflated. It would have been to helpful to have the Balloon Time Helium Balloon Kit there to help me out!

Balloon Time has created several different easy-to-use, portable helium kits. Each kit contains a lightweight, disposable helium tank and easy to follow instructions. The helium tanks nozzle allows for safe, controlled filling and comes with a capacity chart to ensure all balloons are filled properly. You can choose from the Balloon Time 30 Latex Balloon Kit, 50 Latex Balloon Kit, A La Carte Large Size Tank, A La Carte Regular Size Tank, Create-A-Face Sticker Kit, and the Combo Foil and Latex Balloon Kit. You can find Balloon Time products at many mass merchant and grocery stores such as Wal-Mart, Target, Meijer, Kroger, Kmart and Michaels.

I went to our local Wal-Mart to redeem our Balloon Time voucher and I chose the 30 Latex Balloon Kit. When we got it home of course I could not wait to get it out of the box. We opened it up and pulled out the helium tank. I could not get the tank open with my bare hands and neither could C, so he used a pair of pliers to twist it open. After we got it open filling the balloons was a breeze. All you have to do is place the balloon on the end of the nozzle and press it down with one finger. Then you tie it up and attach ribbon that is included. This is so much easier than spending half the day getting your balloons inflated at the store. Next year we will be using a Balloon Time Kit for Princess P's party!

One lucky person will win a voucher for a Free Balloon Time Kit!

To Enter: You must visit Balloon Time and tell me which kit you would like to have AND what celebration would you use it for. Each answer must be different than the one before.
Please leave an email address. I have to have a way to contact the winner.

    Aravon Shoes Review

Its summer so that means you can usually find me in flip flops. But as we all know flip flops aren't the best for our feet. Especially when you are chasing around a very busy one year old. Thank goodness Aravon offers stylish shoes that are remarkable in comfort and fit.

Aravon is a division of New Balance (yeah like the most comfortable tennis shoes ever) so they know comfort and design. They also know that women have a million things to do and we don't have time for achy feet to slow us down. Aravon comes to the rescue with design features including cushion and support technologies, soft-seam lining, rocker soles, and even antibacterial protection.

Aravon was nice enough to send me the Piper sandal from the Stridarc Collection in bronze metallic leather. As soon as I pulled out the sandals I could see the cushion support and could not wait to get them on my feet! I slipped them on and instantly felt the comfort. Each time I took a step I could feel my foot sink into the Abzorb cushion (heaven!). I could even tell that the curved rocker sole's helped me take steps which reduces pressure on my foot and ankle. The Velcro sides on the Piper sandal ensures a custom fit to prevent my foot from slipping out. And the 1 1/4" heels provide a little lift. Perfect for keeping all of my long summer dress off of the ground.

Aravon offers many different styles of comfort. From the Stridarc Collection which combines comfort and sophistication to the Office Collection that offers all-day support and an effortless transition from day to nightlife, Aravon has it all.

A big thank you to Aravon for this opportunity!

Tickled Pink HairBows Review & Giveaway

    *This giveaway is now closed.*
As most of you know my daughter is a girly girl. She loves everything frilly and pink! So when I got the opportunity to review some definite girly girl hair bows from Tickled Pink HairBows for Princess P I jumped at the chance. Because what little girl doesn't love bows?

Tickled Pink HairBows offers pre-made and custom boutique hairbows for your little one. As a mom to a sweet baby girl, owner and creator Christy knows how fun and special it is to put bows in your little girls hair. And believe me there are so many options and colors to choose from! Tickled Pink HairBows even offers Bow Holders to keep bows organized and beautifully displayed.

Princess P really received a treat from Tickled Pink HairBows! When I choose the colors I went with the basics in her every outfit, pink, purple and green. When Christy responded back to me she gave me an array choices for each color to give me the ultimate custom hairbow. When the bows arrived I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of each bow. Each bow came on a Tickled Pink HairBow card to make sure they arrived neatly and safe. Christy even included a custom headband that each bow can slip right into. So you can customize the headband depending on what color outfit your little one is wearing! I also love the fact that the alligator clip hairbows slip easily into Princess P's hair and they are mostly covered in ribbon so the clip itself can't be seen! I also have to add that Tickled Pink HairBows ribbon headbands are too cute! Princess P is definitely a princess when she sports her adorable hairbows from Tickled Pink HairBows!
