Ride & Learn Giraffe Bike from VTech *Review & Giveaway*

C and I are determined to cut back on our holiday spending this year, and that goes for Miss Princess P as well. Before Thanksgiving, we decided that we would get her one big gift and then one or two smaller gifts and that would be all. Besides, we knew that she would receive plenty of gifts from her other family members. So the big question was, what was that big gift going to be?
We wanted something that she would enjoy playing with (not just for a couple of seconds) and something that she would be able to enjoy for awhile. I also wanted it to have some sort of educational value so she could learn as she played. So when I was contacted to do a review on the Ride & Learn Giraffe Bike from VTech, I knew we had a winner.

The Ride & Learn Giraffe Bike is a fun way to get your toddler moving. This interactive giraffe inspired bike features an LCD screen that lights up with moving animals, letters and numbers. Surrounding the game screen is a variety of light-up animal keys that kids will love to push. Also below the LCD screen is a mode selector that allows you to change between the five different games.
The first activity located on the mode selector is Racing. This setting challenges your toddler to pedal as fast as they can to catch up with their animal pal. The ABC mode allows your little one to ride through the alphabet, but as soon as the pedaling stops the letter freezes and an object that starts with that letter appears on the screen. In the Numbers and Animals settings, your child is encouraged to continue pedaling to see more numbers and catch up with their animal friends. The last game on the mode selector is Music. In this setting your child can watch the animals dancing across the screen and the faster they pedal, the faster the music gets.
I have to admit that the assembly on the Ride & Learn Giraffe Bike from VTech was super easy and it only took a couple of minutes (which is perfect if you are putting this toy together on Christmas eve). A feature that I really like is the bikes adjustable seat, which means she will be able to enjoy it for awhile, and it also has a slight bounce to it for added fun. The LCD screen is easy to turn on and toddlers are able to select the game they want to play.
We let Princess P play with the Ride & Learn Giraffe Bike for a moment before it made its way into the closet until Christmas morning. As soon as we turned it on she was all over the LCD screen pushing each button as it lit up. When on the seat P could reach the pedals, but she was having a hard time grasping the concept of actually pushing them. While she did sit on it for awhile, she was more interested in watching the animals dance across the screen. But I am sure that in due time she will learn to pedal the bike and have a blast playing all of the games. To avoid an all-out scream fest we waited to put the Ride & Learn Giraffe Bike in the closet until after she fell asleep. But hey, she only has two weeks before it reappears again.
