DOLE Make Me a Chef Contest & Giveaway

*This giveaway is now closed.*
How does a beautiful June weekend in Los Angeles sound? Better yet, how does spending a beautiful Los Angeles weekend with acclaimed chef Ben Ford sound!? Yeah that's right! Ben has created four signature recipes with DOLE Canned Fruit and wants to share his culinary tips with you and three of your friends at his latest hot restaurant in Los Angeles. All you need to do is visit www.dolemakemeachef.com, register and submit a short essay (not exceeding 200 words) describing how and/or why DOLE Fruit is a staple in your pantry. The deadline to enter is May 8th. In addition to the grand prize, you could also enter to win the weekly random drawing of one of eight DOLE Gift Bags with $100 in DOLE products, or one of two drawings for a $500 Visa gift card!

I had the opportunity to try out one of Ben Ford's signature DOLE recipes, the Asian Mandarin Salad. This salad was super quick and easy to make! It also looked very spring/summerish and tasted great! Now here is your opportunity to get your hands on some free DOLE canned fruit so you to can whip up one of Ben Ford's signature DOLE recipes!

One lucky person will receive $25 worth of DOLE coupons to restock their pantry!

To Enter: You must visit Make Me A Chef and tell me which recipe you would love to make.
Please leave an email address! I have to have a way to contact the winner!

Extra Entries:

1. Subscribe to my feed. (Must be verified to count!)
2. Grab my button.
3. Follow me on blogger or twitter. Or both!
4. Enter any of my other current giveaways. Leave a comment on which one(s).
5. Blog or tweet about this giveaway. Leave an address where it can be found.
6. 10 Extra Entries if you submit an essay and repost your essay in the comments! Please leave 10 separate comments.

Please leave each entry in a separate comment.

1 - I entered an essay in the DOLE contest. Here it is:
DOLE Canned Fruit gives my family the opportunity to eat a healthy and varied diet all year long. I live in the Midwest - its a wonderful area of the country in so many ways. But what we don't have is the ability to grow tropical fruit! With a husband who adores pineapple and a son who can't live without mandarin orange slices, DOLE is a staple for our family. I pack a snack size can in the lunch I make for my husband every single day. And I use the larger cans in a wide variety of recipes - from Hawaiian Haystacks to fruit salad. There is so much to choose from with DOLE that I never run out of options. But of course I'd love to learn more and would relish the chance to work with Chef Ben Ford. Thanks for the fruit! From a devoted DOLE family

Essay Entry #1: Please make me a chef! With two kids constantly rushing around somewhere, I always need to be able to make good food fast, so I keep at least 10 cans of various Dole products in my pantry at all times. I use their high-quality fruits for all kinds of recipes, such as: xxxxx xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxx, xxxxxxxx xxxxx, xxxxx xxxxxx, xxxxxxx xxxx xxxxxxx xxxx xxxxxxxx xxxxx, and xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx xxxxxx xxxxxx or xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx. Our favorite is the Lemon Pineapple Poppyseed cookies that are made using any brand of store-bought lemon poppyseed quick bread mix, a stick of butter, one egg and a can of crushed pineapple that has been drained COMPLETELY using cheesecloth (you wrap the pineapple in the cloth and wring out the juice - save the juice to smoothies with later). Melt the butter then mix all the ingredients well and roll them into 1" balls. Smush them down onto a non-stick cookie sheet using the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar (like you do sugar cookies) and bake for 8 minutes in 350 F. preheated oven. The first batch to be ready to eat (start to finish) in less than 20 minutes.

I removed all my other recipe titles to protect them until the actual contest is over - don't want to give my creativity away for free. If you (blog owner) want them just email me and I'll give you the entire essay as it was before editing.
