Place: Bethel, New York
Event: Three Days of Peace & Music
In case you have been living under a rock for the last 39 years, I'm talking about Woodstock '69!
It started out as a two day arts and music festival that turned into three days of non-stop partying, or so I've been told. I have to admit that I wasn't even born at the time of this monumentous occasion, but with the combination of my uncle and the internet my inquiring mind has been semi-satisfied. I could only imagine the excitement of arriving in upstate New York and to the traffic of half a million people all headed in the same direction. It took place in a pasture, with sanitation facilities far and few between. There were an abundance of drugs and mud, but little food. But the people didn't care. They were there to see Joan Baez, Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendricks, The Who, CCR and Janis Joplin just to name a few. They went to see a concert but left with an experience they would never forget. The teenagers were so different back then, they took something out of this event that most teenagers nowadays couldn't really grasp. Just look at the outcome of Woodstock '99. Now as I write this I feel like I'm writing an Essay for a school project, but I just thought I would express how I would have loved to have been there. Happy 39 years Woodstock '69!
